Newsletters & What's new ...................... from African Extracts NZ

Don't miss out on our 3 Day 30% off sale.
Starts Friday 25th November 2016

(while stocks last)

In case you are missing out on receiving our (irregular) newsletters by email, it seems a simple idea to also have them available on the website. For your convenience, we have also loaded some past ones.
WHAT'S NEW .................If you are a customer outside of New Zealand, you might be interested to know that we have made some changes to our postage rates - we now provide more options to suit all budgets and time frames.
October 2016
We have had a fantastic response to our September Survey with a lot of positive comments and a few "constructive" ones as well which we are going to try and address. A sample of The Positives (there were many):
** I trust the product to be the best range for the natural ingredients ** I really like the product and the body butter smells great - lovely natural product with no parabens etc ** I will certainly purchase more of these products - I find the body lotion very moisturising and the shower gel feels and smells very luxurious! ** I enjoy using the products and the price is right ** your products are very good and work as expected ** I like using them because my skin feels nice and silky after use ** the cleansing lotion is nice and gentle and moisturising ** the tissue oil is economical and works well ** I love my African Extracts products ** I like the product as it is light on my skin ** I like using them ** my skin feels nice and silky after use **

The Constructive:
  • I was wondering where the lip balm stick that was on sale a while ago went. Is it discontinued?
One of my favourite products but unfortunately it was not available when I placed my last order. The explanation given was there had been some problems with earlier exports (though not to NZ) and they weren’t allowing any further products to be exported. I’m hopeful that they will have resolved the problem by the time I place my next order.
  • The manufacturer should make the tops of the face wash and body scrub clip together better.
This is a comment that I will be passing on to the manufacturer.
  • The full range is not available in New Zealand, maybe you could find a way to make more products available.
African Extracts South Africa have made quite a lot of products changes in the last 2 years – introducing some new product lines and deleting some old ones and we have in fact brought in the full range of products available to us - except the Oil-Free Eye Make-up remover which we haven’t brought in recently due to the complaints of 2 or 3 customers who had problems with stinging when they used it. We will look at bringing in a small number with our next order so that we can personally test it.
We will no longer be bringing in the lip balm trio as there was definitely a problem with these products during transit. At least half of the products we brought in were not suitable for sale.
  • Packaging looks a little dated
The packaging has recently been updated and all products in our next order will be in the new packaging.
  • More regular emails with giveaways/comps or what would be great
Working on this!!
  • I first purchased your products at Wellington Home and Garden Show but have never seen you there since.  Would you ever come there again or sell from some outlet where I did not have to pay postage.
The original owner (Pam Taylor) was based in Wellington but Catherine & I (mother & daughter team) purchased the business from her in July 2014. As we are based in North Canterbury, we only do shows and Trade Fairs in the South Island. However, I have made some changes to our P&P (see below for further detail) so in future you will find it more economical when buying online.
  • I used to use the seaweed tablets and I found they worked for water retention so would love it if they could start producing them again.
I am not familiar with these but will ask my supplier about them
  • There are definitely other products out there that are similar.  A lot actually depends on your postage charges.  Last lot were either $6 or $8 and when the parcels arrived it was quite clear that the price was less.  That is really irritating.
The postage for NZ was set at a flat rate of NZ$6. However, as a result of this survey and the fact that I can actually make these changes on the new website, I have reset all postage to be calculated on a per weight basis. Postage within in NZ will now start at $3 per order.
  • I would like to but the postage to Australia has become too expensive, so sorry . As a pensioner I can no longer afford your product
We have recently reviewed our policy for shipping to Australia and reinstated shipping by weight. Note: our T’s & C’s state that we take no further responsibility for the order after it has been personally left at a NZ Post branch. We also recommend that deliveries go to work addresses where possible. However, to date, we haven’t had any Australian orders go astray. So for our Australian customers, we suggest you do a test purchase and you will be pleasantly surprised at the lower postage rates.
  • I was in South Africa earlier this year I purchased some products and was astonished how much cheaper they were.  I am aware the cost of purchase, transport etc has to be included but with the very strong NZ dollar they are starting to get pretty pricey.
Obviously the products are cheaper in South Africa where they are manufactured and easily accessible for retailers. And yes, the NZ$ is strong against the Rand, however, we have been required by African Extracts South Africa to purchase some orders in US$ and the exchange rate for that is not so good. Point of origin charges, importation costs, international bank fees, Duty, MAF, GST, freight and handling etc are quite significant amounts when importing and then there are other factors to consider too e.g. wastage i.e. products that aren’t sold by the BB date; products that arrive damaged; products that no-one buys! As an additional factor in establishing our prices, we also look at what other countries sell these products for. As a result of the survey, however, we are doing a review of our prices and one we have decreased already is for our Facial Wipes!
  • I love the range and can visible see a difference after the first use, especially the cleanser. I liked the fact that I could purchase the "sample packs" which meant it was both easy to fit into my travel bag and it was affordable in that is lasted a long time.  A little does go a really long way. But you never seem to have those in stock anymore.
Oh, that’s disappointing and I’m not sure what has happened as we have always had the Classic range Starter Kit packs of Cleanser, Toner, Day & Night cream in stock until they recently past there BB date. As the sales for this product have been a little bit disappointing, we were considering not getting it with our next order, however, you can still find some in our Clearance Items.
